The HP Stream 14 probably got your attention if you’ve been perusing the electronics aisles for a budget laptop for college, either because of its attractive appearance or the meagre price. HP has been providing this low-end budget laptop as a Windows option to Chromebooks for a while. The Stream 14 is more extensive than its predecessors (the others had a maximum of 13 inches), but not much has changed.

By limiting itself to the very minimum—a low-powered CPU, little RAM, and 32GB of flash storage—it can compete with Chromebooks. You still receive a usable budget HP 14″ Home and Business Laptop for college and everyday use, even though that might not be enough for the most extraordinary Windows experience.

Design

With dimensions of 0.77 by 13.27 by 8.9 inches (HWD) and a weight of just 3.17 pounds, the HP Stream 14 is incredibly portable. You may edit a TPS report or term paper while holding it in your lap at the nearby McDonald’s or even on the tray table of an aeroplane.

A 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N4000 processor with integrated Intel HD graphics and 4GB of memory powers the Stream 14-cb159nr. Although that doesn’t sound particularly spectacular, keep in mind that the system’s 64GB eMMC flash storage does help to speed up operations. I could restart my computer quickly during testing, and most apps launched within a few seconds.
