- The Monitor: Monitor is an important component of the desktop computers, and it is specifically used to present and display the output on its screen. Without a monitor the computer is nearly useless because the user won’t be able to see the required result or the required output at all. A monitor can be replaced with an LCD or a projector as per requirement of the user.
- The CPU: The CPU of a desktop computer is abbreviated as the central processing unit. The CPU is also referred as the brain of a desktop computer because all the processing takes place inside it. Without CPU a computer is nothing but useless hardware that won’t be able to store any data nor be able to carry out any calculation at all.CPU is also containing many different little components in it and these small components work together and make a successfully working CPU. The components which are present within a CPU includes the storage devices. These devices are ROM, RAM, and the hard disk. The job of these devices is to store the input as well as the output data in it sometimes for a temporary time and sometimes permanently. Other than storage mother board, processor and disk drives are also some very important and useful components of the CPU.
- The Keyboard: Keyboard as the name refers is a board that contains keys on it. These keys include numbers, alphabets, and some special keys in it. Keyboard is used to input data into the desktop computer and then the data is processed by the CPU and then the result is displayed on the monitor or any display component. Without keyboard input cannot be provided to the desktop computer and hence user won’t be able to perform any task in the desktop computer.
- The Mouse: Mouse is also an important component of the desktop computer it is also mainly used for the input purposes, and it is also an input component like the keyboard. Without a mouse its hard to operate a desktop computer. The mouse is a component of pc used to select, open, click and delete any file, folder, or document.
Features of the Desktop Computers
The computers that were manufactured earlier were huge in size, they were kept in large halls and many workers were used to carry them from one place to another using heavy machinery. Along with this they were very expensive not everybody could have afforded them only companies and industries were able to buy and use them. Those computers were also heating producing and expensive kind of cooling systems were required for their cooling purposes. All these side effects of the old and outdated computers had made them difficult to use.
The desktop computers unlike the old computers are very easy to use. These computers are very compact and light in size and weight because they were specially made to be used in the office work and their size is maintained in such a way that a simple office desk must be able to carry them with ease. The desktop computer brought a revolutionary change in the computer industry because after the invention and introduction of these computers computer became the essential part of each and every office, bank and control room.
